The joint mission of the World Bank, FAO, and ACReSAL received a warm reception at the palace of the Andoma of Doma in Nasarawa State for the inauguration of the ACReSAL Community Revolving Fund (CRF) in a pilot community.
Dr. Joy Iganya Agene, the World Bank Task Team Leader, was honored with the title “Wakiliyan Gyara Kasar Doma” by the Emir of Doma, recognizing her exceptional dedication and impactful work in Nigeria, particularly through the ACReSAL initiative. The Emir commended her efforts in advancing transformative projects like ACReSAL in Doma and indeed Nasarawa state as a whole.
During the meeting, HRH Alh. (Dr.) Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah Onawo, the Andoma of Doma, emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability, advocating for tree planting and solarization initiatives to mitigate heat emissions. He underscored the economic benefits of reclamation and afforestation, highlighting the significance of planting economic trees such as palms and dates to enhance food security and economic prosperity in Doma and beyond.
Dr. Abdulhamid Umar, the National Project Coordinator, provided a comprehensive overview of ACReSAL’s pivotal role in addressing climate change challenges in northern Nigeria. He emphasized the commitment to funding projects aimed at improving livelihoods and uplifting communities. Doma stands as the inaugural beneficiary of the ACReSAL community revolving fund in Nasarawa State, designed to bolster agricultural livelihoods and overall standards of living.
Dr. Napoleon Gyobe Elias, the Nasarawa State Project Coordinator, and other esteemed officials from the World Bank were honored with traditional attire, symbolizing gratitude for their instrumental contributions to the ongoing development efforts in Doma.
