GREEN HOUSE BUILT BY THE PLATEAU STATE ACReSAL PROJECT

In a major breakthrough for local agriculture, a first -of -its -kind hybrid cucumber cultivated inside a state of the art Green House built by the Plateau state ACReSAL project has started yielding an exceptional harvest in Vom, Plateau state.

The ground breaking harvest experiment was carried out by the Project Coordinator of the ACReSAL PROJECT in Plateau state. Mr. Garba Gowon Gonkol accompanied by his SPMU team. Utilizing a combination of advanced breeding techniques, the service provider of the Greenhouse, Mr. Friday Bako assured farmers in the state that the Drip technology is a cheaper and smart method of farming capable of giving high yield. He therefore urged the farmers to imbibe the process to better their lives. It would be recalled that plant was grown inside a controlled environment Green House structure designed specifically to optimize growth conditions like temperature, humidity and light exposure.

The inaugural harvest of these cucumbers demonstrated extraordinary performance, both in terms of yield and quality. With each vine producing a considerable number of uniformly-sized cucumbers which were visibly appealing; boasting a vibrant green hue and smooth texture. One of the many advantages of this Greenhouse cultivation is the significantly shortened growth cycle .

According to the acting NRO, Mr. Nanbal Hassan also confirmed to ACReSAL media that the traditional cucumber cultivation methods generally take weeks longer to produce a mature crop. Upon hearing the news, some uptakes and local markets around Jos South have expressed excitement about the prospects of having a constant supply of farm produce. The farmers and experts alike are hailing it as game-changer in the agricultural sector.
